Specialty supermarkets, eateries nabbed 7 of NYC’s top 10 retail leases last month

January seems to have been a good month for supermarket leases within the 5 boroughs, signing three of the top ten retail leases last month.
Outside of that, it was a good month for food retailers in general, as another four of the top ten were made by restaurants and bakeries.
But the biggest retail lease of all last month was not among those seven. Read on to find out which snagged the top spot on this list.
9) Empire Cake | 450 Sixth Avenue | Greenwich Village | 6,700 sf
The bakery signed a new 10-year lease in the Greenwich Village building. Ben Biberaj and Elliot Wygoda of Meridian Retail Leasing represented the tenant, while Joshua Roth of Manhattan Skyline Management represented the landlord in house.
